Abia LG Workers’ Laud Gov Otti’s Leadership, Call For Continuity

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has earned widespread praise from local government workers across Obingwa, Aba North, Aba South, Osisioma, Isiala-Ngwa North, Isiala-Ngwa South Local Government Areas (LGAs) for what they describe as a historic turnaround in public service conditions, particularly at the grassroots level.

The commendation came during an official tour by the Chairman of the Abia Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Elder James Ebere Nwokochah, and his team of Commissioners recently.

During the visit, leaders of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) from the LGAs, including Comrades Steve Ananaba, Emmanuel Ugochukwu, Okeh Ekpe, Ujoh Samuel, Sampson Chigozie and Ochunma Chikaodi respectively, lauded Governor Otti’s worker-friendly reforms and endorsed him for a second term.

According to the union leaders, Otti’s administration has restored dignity to public servants through prompt salary and pension payments—a sharp departure from past administrations marked by delays and neglect. They emphasized that the endorsement was not politically motivated but driven by a sense of moral responsibility to support a leader who has redefined governance with integrity and empathy.

Elder Nwokochah, addressing council staff and stakeholders, reaffirmed the administration’s deep commitment to grassroots development and professional excellence in public service. He stressed that Governor Otti’s approach to leadership centers on equity, accountability, and sustainable impacts among others.

In his words: “The Governor has set a new standard of governance where local government workers are respected and treated as vital contributors to development.”

Elder Nwokochah maintained that issues like delayed promotions were already being addressed in line with the Governor’s broader civil service reform agenda.

He also issued a stern warning against corruption and political partisanship in local government operations, asserting the Commission’s zero-tolerance policy on unethical conduct.

The Local Government Mayors and Heads of Service, echoed the commendations. They highlighted improvements in infrastructure, security, education, and healthcare as visible proof of the Governor’s “New Abia” vision in action.

The event also featured key figures from the LGSC, including Barr Jerry Uzosike, Dame Ngozi Nwagbara (PhD), Dr. Godwin C. Duru, Engr. Oji Uka Kalu (PhD), Hon. Allen Wogu, and Permanent Secretary, Princess Ezinne Judith Ngwakwe (PhD), who all reaffirmed the Commission’s support for the ongoing transformation of local governance under Governor Otti’s leadership.
