Abia State Head of Service Advocates Paradigm Shift for Improved Civil Service

 

The Abia State Head of Service, Mr. Benson Ojeikere, has called for a significant attitudinal shift among Civil Servants to align their conduct and performance with the vision of Governor Alex Otti’s administration.

During an interactive session with the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Mr. Ojeikere emphasized the importance of leading by example to instill a culture of accountability, efficiency, and excellence in service delivery. He charged the Permanent Secretaries to champion the Government’s transformational agenda by ensuring that their respective departments uphold these values.

Highlighting key strategies for effective service delivery, Mr. Ojeikere urged strict adherence to the 24-hour turnaround time for tasks to boost productivity and operational efficiency. He also encouraged Civil Servants to prioritize comprehensive work plans and actively participate in weekly training sessions tailored to address skill gaps and operational challenges.

In his remarks, Mr. Ojeikere underscored that career advancement and promotions within the Civil Service would now be based on merit, competence, and commitment. Criteria for elevation will include the quality of individual work plans, practical work experience, and participation in professional development programs, ensuring that promotions reflect performance and dedication.

Furthermore, the Head of Service stressed the importance of fostering discipline across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to enhance public trust in governance and support the administration’s developmental goals.
