Commissioner Nwachukwu harps on need for obedience among Christian fathers.
Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Prince Uzor Nwachukwu has said that act of disobedience brings down a man irrespective of his position, whether in the secular or spiritual society..
Speaking at the 2025 Fathers’ Day celebration of the The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), 2 Uwalaka St, Umuahia, Prince Nwachukwu no king, priest or prophet has escape the consequences of disobedience.
He appreciated God for the unique position bestowed on the fathers in the family and challenged them to fulfil it with a great sense of responsibility.
He commended Gov Alex Otti for the dawn of good governance in the state, who stated the good democracy dividend being enjoyed in the state was a testament that the state would not go back to the era of bad governance but continued to build a great Abia everyone would be proud of and secure the future of our children.
The Commissioner stated that the governor wants to replicate the good working system in places like Lagos, Abuja and build an Abia everyone would be proud to call our own and join hands to develop instead of migrating to those other places because of lack of infrastructures and good opportunities to excel.
He thanked the Church for honouring his kinsman, Prince Sunny Agomuoh and wife with the award of golden father and mother which he came to celebrate with them.
In his sermon, the Zonal Pastor TREM Southeast Zone II, Rev. Prof. Ugochukwu Adeyemi Orgally said that fathers are the pillars upon which the house rested and that they were created for a purpose, but that purposes are not actualised, it could lead to abuses.
Rev Orgally who anchored his preaching on theme of the celebration the theme this year celebration, “The King, The Priest and The Prophet” and from Gen 18: 17-19 and Hosea 6: 3, reminded fathers that as potential tools created by God, they must maximise positively the responsibilities God has entrusted on them to be Kings, priests, and prophets.
He therefore challenged fathers to defend their families in time of war, battles, and set standard legacy your family would follow even when you have gone.
Drawing inferences from the scriptures to back up their ordained roles, the Man of God reminded them that as Kings, they are expected to inculcate the value of the word of God in their families and ensure that their children don’t speak anyhow or against the word of God, make them obey the word of God as a prophet and show them how to pray as a priest.
Earlier, the leader of the joint Christian Men Fellowship of the Church, Peter Ikechukwu Agbakuru, said that the theme this year celebration, “The King, The Priest and The Prophet” was indicative of the several roles fathers should play in our homes, Church, workplace, and society in general.
He stated that men would be repositioned for greater exploits; as they would, in turn, prepare the next generation to play greater positive roles.
The high point of the celebration was the conferment of Golden father and mother on former Commissioner for Special Duties, Prince Sunny Agomuoh and wife, Princess Orie Agomuoh who thanked the Church and the Men Fellowship for the honour done them and pray that God would continue to strengthen them in their work in God’s vineyard.
