Gov Otti Inspects Road Projects In Aba, Vows To End Abia’s ‘Dirty State’ Reputation

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti says his administration is working tirelessly to change the State’s narrative across all sectors, enhance its aesthetics, and drive economic transformation.

Governor Otti made the declaration on Saturday, after inspecting progress of work at key road projects in Aba, including the Port Harcourt road, Ekeakpara -NNPC road, Omuma, Eziukwu, Ehi and Clifford roads.

The Governor who emphasized the that his administration is positioning Abia State to take it’s rightful pride of place in the comity of economically advanced States, vowed to transform the State’s image and infrastructure.

He further vowed that the State will never again be referred to as a “dirty State”, and noted that Aba’s lost glory is gradually coming back.

You have seen how Aba is now, compared to what it was when people make jest of us as a dirty people.

I don’t think anybody will call Aba dirty again with what our government is doing“, Gov Otti said.

He appealed to residents to support the Government’s efforts by maintaining a clean environment and avoiding the indiscriminate dumping of refuse, which obstructs stormwater flow and contributes to flooding.

The Governor expressed satisfaction with the progress of work, particularly on the Port Harcourt Road project, being handled by Julius Berger Construction Company and assured residents that the road would soon be commissioned for public use.

He thanked the people of Aba for their support to the contractors and and his Government, and assured them of more glorious days ahead.

The area which you would assist this Government is to ensure that everybody keeps their environment clean.

Throw away your refuse at the refuse bins, do not obstruct the drainage with refuse. Obstructing the drainage hampers free flow of storm water which equally results to flooding.

We are happy that we no longer witness flooding in Aba”, Gov Otti said.

Some of the residents of the roads undergoing construction including Mr. Titus Ndubuisi, Mr. Nneamaka Enyidedeya, and Mrs. Ngozi Okeke, praised Governor Otti, and described him as an “action Governor”.

The residents who chanted solidarity songs in support of the Governor, emphatically stated that Governor Otti does not need to campaign in Aba for reelection.

According to them, the roads he has already repaired, along with those currently under construction, serve as his campaign.

They recounted the deplorable state of the roads prior to the Governor’s intervention and noted that no administration in the past 24 years has attempted what Governor Otti has accomplished for them.
