The Abia State Government has reiterated its earlier warning to motorists driving against traffic to desist or face prosecution under existing laws if apprehended.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, made this known while briefing Journalists on the outcome of his week’s Exco briefing chaired by Governor Alex Otti.
The Commissioner stressed that repeated warnings have been ignored by some motorists who go against the law adding that offenders would have to face the consequences of their actions if apprehended.
“We’ve been making this announcement and a few people still will not listen to all the warming from government so if they are caught in this act, that would be their funeral.
“No matter how short the distance, those found guilty would be prosecuted under extant laws if apprehended,” Prince Kanu stated.
He urged residents to comply with traffic regulations to enhance road safety and orderliness in the State.
Contributing, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma emphasized that the ban on one-way driving remains in effect, with no exemptions granted to any group of persons.
He also disclosed that all illegal motor parks at Isigate would soon be eliminated.
