Farmers’ Cooperatives in Nigeria,Appoint Amb. Emeka Nwankpa As National Director

 

 

Farmers in Nigeria under the aegis of National Apex of Nigerian Farmers Cooperative Societies Limited (NANFACOS), has appointed Abia Born philanthropist and preacher, Amb.Bishop Emeka Nwankpa,as a National Director to represent Abia state in NANFACOS.

Speaking during the presentation of the Appointment letter to Amb.Nwankpa in his Umukalunta  country home in Isialagwa North Local Government Area of the state,the National president of NANFACOS, Chief Uzoma Nwogwugwu,who led the National delegation from Abuja, said Amb Nwankpa is one of the Directors chosen from Abuja, going by his antecedents and immense contributions to the growth of Agriculture in the state.

Intimating the Press further, Chief Nwogwugwu said as a way of revamping the nation’s Agricultural sector,the Federal government discovered that there was need to establish a body that would help coordinate cooperative activities across the states of Nigeria and one of such move was to appoint two directors from each state to stand as intermidiaries  between the NANFACOS and the state.

He disclosed that each state would produce two Directors and six Board of Trustees (BoT) to oversee Agriculture operations in the state and report back to the National office, adding that their activities would further help in the smooth run of Agric-business in Nigeria.

While urging other well meaning Abians to take a leaf from Amb Nwankpa,whose contributions, such as, the provision of farm inputs,funds, pieces of land and other levels of support,have given a boost in Agriculture, urging  the cleric not to relent in contributing his quota to  grow Agric- Business in the state

Responding, Amb. Nwankpa stated that he did not see the award coming,but he believes that anyone serving God, would not always go unrewarded.

According to him,he has been sponsoring Agriculture in his area,from the distribution of bags of fertilizer to making funds available and giving of free land to women that want to farm, promising not to relent in the gesture.

Nwankpa, however, thanked the NANFACOS for the opportunity given him to serve his people, pledging to render quality and effective representation.

He disclosed that for Nigeria to be food sufficient,the federal government should deploy measures to shift Agriculture from local method of farming,like the use of cutlasses and hoes to a more mechanized method.

The cleric further pledged to give his best to the organization and Abia at large.
