Emetu tasks Ohafia communities on peace for rapid rural development

Abia state deputy governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu has charged communities in the state to ensure a sustainable atmosphere of peace to actualise government rapid rural development plan.

Engr Emetu disclosed this when he granted audience to members of Okagwe Ohafia Development Union, Umuahia Branch who were on a courtesy visit.

He reminded the Okagwe community and the larger Ohafia clan that no meaningful development can take place in the midst of rancour and crisis.

 

He told his guests that the state government plans to electrify Ohafia along with four other local governments with 300 mega wats off-grid solar power.

Engr Emetu disclosed that the solar pan would be installed in Ohafia for distribution to other councils and urged youths in the larger Ohafia community to work in unison and guard against the vandalisation of public
infrastructure solely buit for their benefit.


Engr Emetu said that the off-grid solar power would start with 75 Mega Watts, which would be upgraded to 300 Watts to cover the intended areas.

He further revealed that some of the major roads in Ohafia have been captured in 2025 budget and that construction work would soon kick off.

The Deputy Governor appreciated members of Okagwe Ohafia Development Union for their show of gratitude and for supporting the present government.

He encouraged them to endeavour to co-exist with their neighbours in peace and advised those that found themselves in positions of authority to align with the government’s vision and not engage in anything that would bring disrepute to him and Ohafia Community.

Earlier, the President General of Okagwe Development Union, Umuahia Branch, Mr Uduma Uguru, and traditional ruler of Okagwe, Eze Odum Amaogu, appreciated the Deputy Governor for giving them audience and for representing Ohafia well with his position as Deputy Governor.

They acknowledged
that his position as the Deputy Governor has attracted good development for the Ohafia Community and pledged their support to the Deputy Governor and the Alex Otti led government.

They also pleaded with the Deputy Governor to help them actualise their dream of building a secretariat in Umuahia for their meetings.

Also speaking, the Personal Assistant to the Deputy Governor, Comrade Sunny Pele, thanked the Deputy Governor for the opportunity given to him and other Okagwe sons to work with him and for many things he has done for the community.
