EPL: Mateta’s Brace Sink United

Crystal Palace produced a master-class performance at Old Trafford to defeat Manchester United 2-0 and inflict a fifth home defeat in six league games on Ruben Amorim’s side.

After a goalless first half, Crystal Palace broke the deadlock in the 64th minute when Maxence Lacroix headed Eberechi Eze’s free kick against the cross bar and Mateta was the first to react and swept the ball beyond Andre Onana.

Oliver Glasner’s boys were very organized in the defense and stood strong against the Red Devils’ effort to equalize. Lisandro Martinez was stretchered off after sustaining a nasty knee injury and was replaced by Mathijs de Ligt.

Few minutes later Palace doubled their lead after a swift counter attack which saw Mateta tap home Daniel Munoz’s cross.
