Lawmaker Erondu Jnr, Flags off Grading Of Rural Roads In Abia

The member representing Obingwa-West State constituency in Abia State House of Assembly (ABHA), Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, has flagged off grading of rural roads in Abia.

The first phase of the road grading, he said, will cover all rural roads in Obingwa, Osisioma and Ugwunagbo Local Government Areas (LGAs), in Abia State.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held in Ntigha-Umuaro, Obingwa Local Government Area (LGA) today, the Chairman House Committee on Public Service, decried the deplorable state of rural roads in Abia and the attendant hardships his constituents are facing.

 

 

In his words: “The roads ought to be graded without further delay to alleviate the suffering of our people and it is crucial for improving the quality of life in the rural areas.”

He further explained that improved roads will enhance rural accessibility, facilitate economic growth and boost the overall quality of life for the rural populace.

He expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him by his people, assuring them that he would continue to prioritize projects that would have a direct impact on their lives.

Contributing, the Chairman of stakeholders in Obingwa LGA, Chief Rowland Nwakanma commended the Erondu Jnr for the grading of rural roads initiative, adding that they have not seen it in this fashion for a long while.

He thanked the lawmaker, urging other political leaders across the state to emulate the Uhie-born legislator’s leadership style of prioritizing the welfare and critical needs of his constituents.

Meanwhile, an elder statesman, Chief Isaac Ogbonna has also lauded Erondu Jnr for the rural roads grading project, describing it as apt, owing to the forthcoming 2025 farming season.

Elder Ogbonna who further said that they are proud of voting him to represent them, prayed God to for continue to increase and protect him and his entire family.

Fielding questions from newsmen, the member representing Ugwunagbo State constituency in ABHA, Hon. Chijioke Uruakpa, thanked Erondu Jnr for extending the rural roads grading project to Ugwunagbo LGAs, adding that it will enhance farming and socio-economic development in the area.

Hon. Uruakpa prayed God to bless the lawmaker, pledging their unwavering support to him in all his endeavours.

In his remark, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Obingwa LGA, Hon. Ahamefula Egbulefu, applauded Erondu Jnr for the project, revealing that none of their representatives in the State, and National Assembly has ever done such.

He said that people of Obingwa did not regret voting him and PDP in 2023, calling on political leaders in Abia to emulate Erondu Jnr’s purposeful leadership.

Earlier in his remark, the Director-General, Igodo Igwe campaign council, Hon. Chidiebere Ihenyirimadu, thanked Erondu Jnr for going beyond his 2023 campaign promises to his constituents, promising the people that the best is yet to come.

In their separate remarks, a former Chairman, Obingwa LGA, Hon. George Ubani, the Obingwa Ward Three Chairman, Barr. Henry Moses and a woman leader, Hon. Ugoeze Gold D., also lauded the project, pledging their supports to the lawmaker.

They insisted that the project would remain indelible in the hearts of the people of the area.

Other dignitaries at the occasion were: Abia House of Assembly members that represents; Ukwa-East, Aba North and Isiala-Ngwa South State constituencies; Hon. Lewis Obianyi, Hon. Aaron Uzodike and Hon. Dennis Rowland Chinwendu respectively.
Hon. Ezinwa Abiri, Hon. Monday Chikezirim Orji, Elder Chiemela Moses, Chief Goddy Olewe, Chief Ekwefum Nwalo, Hon. Prince Chilaka, Hon. Prince Ezenwoke Ukpom, Hon. Christian Dimkpa, Hon. Stanley Ugorji, Hon. Chigozie Joshua, Elder Abraham Nwakwuo, among others also graced the event.
