There was jubilation in Rivers community as the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, delivered a life-changing gift to the people of Igwruta in Ikwerre Local Government Area by donating a 500kva transformer and all other items needed for its installation through the Ministry of Power.
This thoughtful gesture aims to ensure electricity reaches every corner of the Igwruta community, lighting up homes and lives during the festive season.
Speaking at the brief handover ceremony, Rivers State Commissioner for Power, Prince Solomon Abel Eke, described the donation as a direct response to Governor Fubara’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of Rivers people.
“On behalf of His Excellency, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, we are here to deliver this Christmas gift to you. This transformer, alongside all necessary materials, will be installed within three weeks at no cost to the community. The Governor has fully funded this project to ease your burden, especially with the high cost of fuel and diesel. This is part of his roadmap to achieve 24-hour electricity supply across Rivers State,” Eke stated.
The Commissioner further praised Governor Fubara’s listening leadership, highlighting his swift approval of genuine requests to address the needs of Rivers citizens. “This project reflects the Governor’s deep concern for your well-being and his vision for the rapid development of the state,” he added.
Receiving the transformer on behalf of the Igwruta community, Chief John Worlu expressed profound gratitude to the Governor for the unexpected and impactful gesture.
“This is a day of joy for us in Igwruta. We never imagined the Governor would extend such a generous hand to our community. As the Bible says, ‘When the righteous rule, the people rejoice.’ We are rejoicing today because of Governor Fubara’s good works. Tell him that Omueke and Igwruta people are grateful and will stand by him in 2027!” Worlu declared.
