In a show of unity and support, members of the Labour Party in Abia State have passed a vote of confidence in the state executive of the party, affirming their commitment to the leadership and direction of the party.
In a meeting held at the party secretariat in Umuahia, leaders of the party across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state affirmed their strong backing for the current leadership of the party, ably led by Sir Emmanuel Nweze Otti.
Members praised the efforts of the state executive in fostering unity, increasing membership, pushing the collective vision for the party’s future, and advancing its goals in the state.

They pointed out that the strength of the party in the state shows that the party remains focused on serving the interests of the people and pushing for policies that promote social justice, economic growth, and political integrity. They added that the developmental strides of the governor have also reinforced the resolve of members to remain united and committed to the party’s ideals.
The state chairman of the party, Sir Emmanuel Nweze Otti, in an interview, attributed the endorsement from party members to the governor’s outstanding performance, which has significantly transformed the state’s narrative.
According to him, Governor Alex Otti has made significant strides in revitalizing various sectors of Abia State and investing heavily in infrastructure development across the state, adding that his efforts have been focused on transforming every aspect of the state, leaving no area untouched.
He said the meeting was called to update members on the achievements of the party since the year started, adding that, as the year was winding down, it was important to call the meeting to keep members abreast of the party’s activities.
Sir Otti praised Governor Alex Otti’s exceptional performance, saying it has simplified their political tasks, assuring the governor of the party members’ ongoing support, acknowledging that his outstanding achievements have made their jobs easier.
He also praised the immediate past mayors of the local government areas for their contributions to the governor’s efforts, which have led to significant improvements in their respective areas. “By working together, they have achieved remarkable transformations that have positively impacted the local communities.”
The Labour Party chairman further condemned the recently constituted shadow government of the People’s Democratic Party, stating that it is baseless and lacking substance.
He, however, extended warm wishes to Labour Party members for a peaceful and joyful celebration during the festive season and for continued success throughout the yuletide period.
