Crime Fighting: Rivers Police Receive Communication Equipment from NDDC

In a bid to support security agencies in combating crime, restoring peace, and ensuring better communication among them, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has donated two-way radio security gadgets, including transmitters, operational vehicles, and several accessories, to the Rivers State Police Command.

This act of support, according to the Commission’s Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, is aimed at bringing peace to the Niger Delta region, ensuring better communication among the police, and enhancing the command’s performance.

He revealed that peace and security are critical to creating the necessary environment for the rapid development of the Niger Delta region, stating that since the Commission has an obligation to support security agencies, it needs a secure environment to discharge its mandate effectively.

However, the NDDC boss noted that as an interventionist agency, the Commission would not hesitate to ensure that security agencies are given the necessary support to enhance their capacity to maintain security in the Niger Delta region.

In his words:
“The NDDC is committed to giving adequate support to the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to ensure effective job performance. As part of this commitment, we have been able to provide security gadgets and operational vehicles to the police, and we are determined to collaborate with other state police commands and security agencies in the region to enhance their operations.

“This donation is part of our efforts to support security agencies in fighting crime in the Niger Delta region. We believe that the modern communication tools will assist the police in carrying out their duties more effectively and ensure the safety of our communities.

“We will provide communication equipment and other necessary assistance to all police commands in the Niger Delta region.”

On his part, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bala Mustapha Mohammed, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Samuel Erale, commended the Commission for its continued support for the police force. He noted that the security equipment would boost the security architecture already installed by the Command and effectively nip crime in the bud during this yuletide season and beyond.

Upon receiving the items, he promised that the equipment would be carefully handled and properly used in order to achieve the aim for which it was donated.

He promised that the police would continue to discharge their duties to the country effectively and efficiently, which, he said, is determinant for the growth of sustainable development.
