Plans To Relocate Mechanics To Ovom Industrial Cluster: Ikpeazu Appeals For Cooperation 

 

 

 

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has appealed to Mechanics and Motor Spare Parts Dealers doing business on the streets of Aba to move into the Ovom Mechanic Motor Spare Parts Industrial Cluster on or before the 31st of May 2023.

 

 

Governor Ikpeazu who made the appeal after inspecting the progress of work at the Ovom Mechanic and Motor Spare Parts Industrial Cluster, Aba which is currently under construction,said it would be illegal for any mechanic to operate on road sides in Aba after the expiration of the deadline.

 

 

 

He noted that the greatest enemy of the newly constructed roads are mechanics and dealers on spare parts who throw engine oil, fuel and other lubricants on the asphalt surfaces of the roads thereby reducing the life span of roads.

“Our plan is to provide a place for both the traders and their clients to do business in a condusive environment.

 

 

 

“This facility will have provision for adequate security. We are providing a police post, we will ensure that there is a fire station. We will also ensure that Banks will have a place to stay in this facility. All are designed to make life easier for the traders and their clients.

 

 

 

 

 

“I also want to seize this opportunity to officially appeal to all those who deal with spare parts and those who are involved in the repair of vehicles that are scattered all over the city of Aba to begin to come close to this place and ensure that they take part in what is happening here.

“By 31st of May this year, we will make it impossible for anybody that is not in an organized environment such as this to operate whether as a mechanic or a spare parts dealer in town”, Ikpeazu disclosed.

 

 

 

 

The Governor, who said that he was satisfied with the pace and quality of work on the cluster further disclosed that expansion work is ongoing at the Opobo junction adding that government is working hard to realize Ngwa Road through Emelogu street and assured that government will do all to make the cluster functional.

 

 

 

 

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Rev. Mba Emeh who conducted the governor round the cluster said that over 800 shops have been completed out of the proposed 4,000 shops at the cluster and announced that the cluster would be ready for commissioning by 31st of May this year.

Rev Eneh who disclosed that the project is a private public partnership initiative assured the project would be realised within the stipulated time.
