Abia Customary Court Of Appeal President Sworn In

 

 

Justice Stella Maris Chinedum Ururuka Onyenso has been sworn in as the President of the Abia State Customary Court of Appeal.

 

This is following her approval by the National Judicial council( NJC), acceptance by the Governor and confirmation by the Abia state House of Assembly in accordance with the dictates of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, as amended. Prior to her swearing in, Justice SMC Ururuka Onyenso has been holding the office in an Acting Capacity.

 

 

 

Speaking at the ceremony held at Government House Umuahia, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu while congratulated her for attaining a new milestone, noted that the post is strategic and important to the discharge of justice in Abia State.

Governor Ikpeazu urged the newly sworn in President of the state Customary City of Appeal to support the programmes and polices of government as well as protect the vulnerable members of the society through the instrumentality of the judicial system.

 

 

 

“You should join your colleagues in this onerous task and ensure that you support government and protect especially the vulnerable and the voiceless in the discharge of your duties”, he said.

 

 

 

He expressed confidence that Justice Ururuka Onyenso will discharge her duties creditably and called on members of the judicial institution to lend her support inorder to make a huge success during her tenure.

In her acceptance speech, the newly sworn in President of the Abia State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice SMC Ururuka Onyenso thanked Governor Ikpeazu, the Judicial Service Commission and the Abia State House of Assembly for finding her worthy to serve.

 

She promised to abide by the oath of office and improve on the Abia State judicial institution.
