Abia State Govt Launches State-of-the-Art Emergency Tripod System

 

The Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has officially commissioned the first phase of the rebuilt Abia State Emergency Tripod System which integrates Fire Service, Security and Medical Emergency provisions.

 

Speaking at the event where he also commissioned the newly rebuilt Aba South Local Government Administrative Block, Governor Otti said upon assuming office, he found the emergency vehicles in extremely poor condition.

 

The Governor disclosed that the state government hired professionals who thoroughly assessed the condition of the medical emergency vehicles and took on the task of retrofitting them with modern parts to ensure they were roadworthy and fit for use.

 

He emphasized that the restoration project was part of his administration’s commitment to ensure that government assets are properly maintained for the benefit of the people.

In his speech, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Homeland Security, Fire, and Medical Emergencies, Mr. Chukwnenye Alajemba highlighted the Governor’s commitment to creating a robust economic model supported by a dependable emergency response infrastructure.

The Governor is building a very good economic model for Abia system but you cannot have that kind of economic model; and he understands that, without having a good security system and a good emergency system that creates confidence in the minds of international investors as well as our local people. 

 

He has tasked us with reorganizing the emergency systems so that our people can have that confidence that when they have any form of emergency, we will come to them and we will save their lives”, Mr Alajemba said.

The Governor’s Aide explained that in its first phase, the system will deploy ambulances across key locations, including Aba and Umuahia and added that plans are underway to expand to Ohafia, Abiriba, and other areas to ensure comprehensive coverage across the state.

He revealed that the emergency ambulances are equipped with the latest in life-saving technology, including Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and other critical medical equipments that aligns with international standards for emergency response.

 

The Emergency Tripod System will coordinate responses across fire, medical, and security services. 

 

In the event of a fire, for instance, our fire services will respond first, while security teams secure the area. Ambulances will then arrive to address medical needs”, Alajemba further explained.

Mr Alajemba expressed gratitude to Governor Otti for delivering on his promises, pointing out that the event is a testament to the Governor’s dedication to the welfare of the people.
