Abia Monarchs Reaffirm Call For Nnamdi Kanu’s Release Amid Rising Insecurity In South East Region

 

The Abia State Traditional Rulers Council has renewed its appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, currently held in DSS custody despite court rulings for his release.

 

The Chairman of the Abia Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Linus Nto Mbah, reiterated this call during an interaction with Journalists while hosting the South East Traditional Rulers Council at the JAAC Secretariat in Umuahia.

Eze Ntoh highlighted that the primary aim of the South East Traditional rulers meeting was to address the prevailing security challenges in the region, which have heightened in recent times.

The traditional rulers are deeply concerned about the security of the Eastern states. We are united in our resolve to work alongside our governors to ensure that our region is secure“, Eze Ntoh said.

 

He stressed that the call for the unconditional release of the IPOB Leader has become imperative and emphasized that his timely release would greatly contribute to restoring peace and security in the South East.

Eze Ntoh pointed out that his release would also significantly reduce the criminal activities being carried out by elements exploiting the agitation for his freedom.

The insecurity has made it difficult to distinguish between genuine agitators and criminal elements exploiting the situation.

 

 

“We are pleading with the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu. This will help restore peace, and we will then be able to identify and address those who continue to create unrest in the region”, the traditional ruler explained.

 

He reiterated that the traditional rulers are commitment to peace and security in the South East zone and assured that they would continue to work closely with their state governments to bring stability to the region.
