Abia Schools To Reopen On Sept 23 With Recommencement Of First Teachers Training Programs

 

The Abia State Government has rescheduled the reopening of Primary and Secondary schools for the 2024/2025 academic session to Wednesday 23rd September, 2024.

 

 

The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu made the announcement while briefing Newsmen on the outcome of this week’s Exco meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti

 

Prince Kanu revealed that the shift from the earlier date of 16th September is due to a public holiday scheduled for that day, in observance of a Muslim celebration.

 

The schools in Abia State will resume for the 2024/2025 academic year on Wednesday the 23rd of September 2024.

Prince Kanu said that the State’s First Teachers Training Programme would recommence on 11th September and run through to 20th September, with 1,800 master trainers expected to participate in the trainings to be held in Aba, Umuahia, and Ohafia.

 

 

He noted that the programme is part of the state government’s agenda to reform the education sector in addition to being part of the protocol for the resumption of schools for the new academic year.

 

 

The Abia First Teacher’s Training Programme will recommence on 11th of September through to the 20th of September 2024, with the remaining batch of 1800 Master trainers.

It will be recalled that 200 of those teachers were trained last week and this time around the training will hold in three places within the state at Aba, Umuahia and Ohafia.

 

The training programme is part of the wider agenda of the State Government with regards to the reformation of the Education Sector in the state and forms part of the protocol for the resumption of schools for the new academic year”, Prince Kanu emphasized.
