The initiator of the Think Cross River platform and Deputy Chief Press Secretary to Governor Otu, Mr. Darlington Edem, has reignited the spirit of patriotism among the people of Cross River State, emphasizing the need to appreciate and support government efforts in delivering its duties to the public.
During an interactive session with journalists in the state capital, Edem highlighted the impact of the Think Cross River platform. He explained that it has helped the government promote tourism in the state, while also showcasing business and investment opportunities in various communities.
“Patriotism, unity, love for one another, collective responsibility, and social justice have been key values that the platform has successfully instilled in the people,” Edem said. He noted that these values have helped promote the state and attract investors, largely due to the renowned hospitality of Cross Riverians, which he said is unparalleled.
He added that protecting government property and reporting suspicious activities to security agencies are key ways of demonstrating patriotism. Edem emphasized that patriotism should not be limited to citizens of the state, but should extend to anyone residing in Cross River, as they too are considered part of the community.
In closing, Edem reminded the people of the importance of joining hands with the current administration to promote government initiatives. He stressed that the responsibility for the progress of Cross River lies with the people, saying, “Everything about Cross River starts with the people.”
