Akwa Ibom CLO Elects Isong, Others As State EXCO

The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), Akwa Ibom State Branch yesterday returned the Chairman, Franklyn Isong and other members of the Branch Executive Committee (BEC), unopposed to a fresh tenure.

The CLO State Secretary,
Comrade (Barr.) Christopher Ekpo, who disclosed this in a press statement on Wednesday said the organisation took the resolution during an Extraordinary Branch General Meeting held on Friday, 15th January, 2021.

While noting that the resolution was in line with Chapter V, section 12(3) of the Constitution of the Civil Liberties Organisation, the statement explained that the following members of the Branch Executive Committee were returned unopposed: Otuekong Franklyn Isong, Chairman; Comrade Nsemeke Udoakpan, Assistant Chairman; Comrade (Barr.) Christopher Ekpo, Secretary; Comrade (Barr.) Eseme Philip, Assistant Secretary.

Others are: Comrade (Barr.) Godknows Njoku, Treasurer; Comrade (Barr.) Eyibio Okon, Legal Secretary, and Comrade (Barr.) David Augustine, Campaign/Publicity Secretary.

The statement added that the tenure of the newly elected Branch Executive Committee (BEC) is two years, in line with section 16 of the Constitution of the Civil Liberties Organisation.

The statement however recalled, “Comrade Franklyn Isong was first elected as Assistant Chairman alongside with Comrade (Barr.) Ibrahim Muhammed who later resigned from the office of the Branch Chairman, in line with section 32 of the Constitution of the Civil Liberties Organisation, to seek an elective political office through a political party in the country.

“Comrade Isong was later unanimously elected by members of the Branch in an Extraordinary Branch General Meeting to fill the position of the Branch Chairman in line with section 16 of the Constitution of the Civil Liberties Organisation.”
