The Chairman, House Committee on Public Service, Abia State House of Assembly (ABHA), Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr has felicitated with Nigerian children on the occasion of 2024 children’s Day.
In a release signed by his spokesperson, George Egejuru and made available to newsmen today, Erondu Jnr who decried the menace of over 10 million out-of-school children in Nigeria, urged government at all levels to give robust attention to important issues that affect the Nigerian child and prioritize them in their action plans.
This high number of children without formal education, according to the Uhie-born legislator, has grave consequences for any state and the country at large.
The Lawmaker representing Obingwa-West State constituency further described children as the pride of the nation, reiterating his readiness to partnering with relevant stakeholders and government agencies for an improved well-being of the Nigerian child.
He also enjoined stakeholders to make prompt and proactive policy interventions that will provide children good healthcare, and wider access to quality education to secure their future.
Erondu Jnr who also implored state governments across the country to domesticate and implement the Child’s Right Act of 2003.
In his admonitions, the Abia lawmaker said: “Children’s Day is not just a celebration; it is a reminder of our collective responsibility to safeguard your rights and to empower you with the knowledge and skills to become the leaders of tomorrow.
“We recognize your resilience, creativity, and the unique perspectives you bring. Your voices matter, and your contributions are invaluable to the growth and progress of Obingwa West State Constituency.
“Let us take this day to also appreciate the efforts of parents, teachers, and caregivers who play a crucial role in shaping your lives. Their dedication and love are instrumental in helping you navigate the challenges and opportunities that come your way.
“Together, we must strive to build a community where every child can dream freely and achieve greatness.”
