He listed other roads set to be commissioned by the Governor to include; University Road, Green Avenue, College Road, Kent by Ehi Road, and Old Court Road in Aba as well as Dozie Way; a dual carriage road rehabilitated through direct labour in addition to the newly completed JAAC building at Ogurube layout in Umuahia.
Prince Kanu who highlighted the present administration’s achievements, described Governor Otti’s first year in office as impactful.
He disclosed there are no plans by the state government to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Governor.
“You will agree with me it’s been a one year of impactful leadership. A one year during which His Excellency and his team have redefined governance. Which ever was you look at it in Abia state, we may not be where we want to be but definitely, we are no longer where we used to be.
“The old narrative about Abia state about being underdeveloped, lagging behind amongst committee of states and so on has changed dramatically within this period.
“You will agree with me too that the impact is not just being felt in Abia state but all over the country and even beyond the shores of the country.
“In our usual style, we’re not going to celebrate the one year. If you recall when we turned 100, a lot of people were expecting us to celebrate. We are not going to celebrate as such but we will mark the day.
“It would be a period of retrospection for the government where we will look back and say yes, we’ve come this far after 366 days and now we will refocus for the future, for the greater task ahead, for the government and for the Abia people”, he said.
The Commissioner also noted that Governor Otti’s international engagements, including the recent visits to the US and the UK, have elevated Abia State’s profile globally.
Contributing, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Uzo Nwachukwu, revealed that Governor Otti has allocated over 1.5 billion naira to complete the JAAC building and directed the expansion of the access road.
He noted that no previous administration has invested as much in the Local Government level as Governor Otti’s administration, which is he said is actively upgrading Local Government Headquarters.
Prince Nwachukwu also assured that Local Government elections will be conducted across the state’s 17 LGAs once the council areas are fully revitalized.
Also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, pointed out that Governor Otti remains committed to completing projects initiated by previous administrations and cited the JAAC building as an example.
