MURDER OF A SOLDIER AT ABA: GOVERNOR OTTI SENDS CONDOLENCE MESSAGE TO THE NIGERIAN ARMY

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has paid an on-the-spot visit to the Nigerian Army, following the death of a soldier who was shot dead by unknown gunmen yesterday at the army checkpoint at Asa Road by Milverton, Aba, at about 7:30 pm.

The Governor who was represented by his deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, met with the Brigade Commander, 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Ohafia, where he commiserated with the Nigerian Army over the incident.

The Governor who expressed sadness over the unwarranted incident, called for concerted efforts to fish out the culprits of the heinous act.

“The Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti,, sends his condolences to the Nigerian Army over the unwarranted murder of a soldier who was until his death, attached to the Asa Road by Milverton checkpoint. The Government of Abia State will not tolerate any form of security threats, or attacks on security personnel or outfits anywhere in the state.

“Be assured of the government’s support to see that the culprits are apprehended. I will direct the Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities to light up the checkpoint and every other place deserving of illumination. The Government of Abia State will take care of the family of the deceased, the Governor assured.

The Brigade Commander, 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Ohafia, Brigadier General O.O.Diya who took the Governor around the scene, promised to put their expertise to work by fishing out the culprits who are currently at large.
