Gov Otti’s Security Initiatives Credited For Economic Growth In Abia

 

The Chief of Staff to the Abia State Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, has credited the recent influx of multinational companies and embassies establishing offices in Abia State to the enhanced security measures implemented by Governor Dr. Alex Otti.

 

 

Pastor Ajagba, stated this at Government House, Umuahia, when he received the leadership of the Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante group.

 

He highlighted that the Governor’s focus on creating a safer environment has been a key factor in attracting organizations which contribute to economic growth and development in the state.

 

 

The Chief of Staff noted that on assumption of office, security was one of the sectors Governor Otti declared a state of emergency and added that the establishment of the multi-agency security outfit, “Operation Crush”, as well as the inauguration of the state’s Security Advisory Council, were all in a bid to strengthen the security of the state.

“Today Abia is witnessing a reflection of a well-secured state”, Pastor Ajagba further noted.

 

 

He charged the leadership of the Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante group to remain disciplined in their discharge of duties and collaborate with the Homeland Securities in the discharge of their duties.

 

 

“We need to ensure the vigilante group is a force for good, they should work collaboratively with the Homeland Security department and avoid using your uniforms for personal gain“, Pastor Ajagba stated.

 

Earlier in their speeches, the Special Adviser to the governor on Security Matters, Navy Commodore Macdonald Ubah Rtd, represented by Comr. Emmanuel Ogbuehi, the Chief Security Officer to the Governor, CSP. Ken Nwosu, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Homeland Security, Fire and Emergency Services Mr. Chukwunenye Alajemba and The Special Adviser to the Governor on Energy Engr. Kachy Etolue applauded the vigilante group’s efforts and pledged government support.

They highlighted plans to provide new technological equipment to aid their operations and reiterated that vigilante members are not authorized to carry firearms.

 

In their addresses, the State Chairman of the Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante Apostle Daniel Iheadindueme lauded Governor Otti’s accomplishments, focusing on security improvements.

 

 

Apostle Iheadindueme detailed their success in assisting the Nigeria Police to raid criminal hide-outs, arrest of kidnappers, rescue of kidnapped victims, recovery of many stolen vehicles and motorcycles among other achievements.

 

 

He noted that the group is currently building a database for submission to Homeland Security and has approval from the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja and requested government support in the provision of office space, vehicles, and improved welfare packages for their members.
