The federal lawmaker and member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency, Chief Uko Nkole, has said that Abia state is on the wheel of progress under the watch of Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu.
Chief Nkole who disclosed this in a chat with newsmen in Umuahia recently noted that the Abia governor may not have done everything but have made positive impact on all sectors of the state’s economy.
The federal lawmaker who scored the Governor high in infrastructural development noted that the state would have been better if previous administrations since the creation of the state in1991 had done what the Abia Chief Executive is doing within his five years in office.
He disclosed that Abia has maintained first position in West African Examination Council (WAEC) for the past five years because, a scholar is in governance, pointing out that the renovation of 422 classroom blocks, building of four model schools and the convening of stakeholders meeting to tackle the problems of Abia State Polytechnics, Aba are commendable.
Chief Nkole stated that the introduction of the TeleHealth Initiative, giving a facelift to over 300 health centres and the prompt response in the fight against covid-19 which helped Abia to record the lowest mortality rate in Nigeria are all clear testimonies that the Gov. Ikpeazu has made the wellbeing of Abians a priority.
He further stated that the establishment of the Enyimba Automated shoe company, Garment factory, revival of Golden Guinea Breweries among others have improved the standard of living of many Abians adding that the proposed Enyimba Economic City when realized will create more than 100,000 jobs.
He further disclosed that the Abia governor is laying good foundation for the future through the raising and planting of 4,000,000 tenera oil palm seedlings coupled with the construction of 94 quality roads with the modern Cement rigid pavement technology that will stand the test of time.
He described the relationship between Gov. Ikpeazu and members of the National Assembly as very cordial and advised Abians to desist from de-marketing the state but pray and support their leaders inline with biblical injunctions.
Chief Nkole used the forum to thank God for saving the life of the Abia governor from the dreaded corona virus and commended the wife of the Governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu for using her Vicar Hope Foundation to positively touch the lives of the less privileged in the society.
