The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the reinstatement of Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman, Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), to civil service is embarrassing and unbelievable.
Maina, who is facing corruption allegations, was posted to the ministry of interior under controversial circumstances.
Abdulrahman Dambazau, minister of interior, had earlier said it was the office of the head of civil service that posted Maina to his ministry.
This had generated reactions before President Muhammadu Buhari ordered Maina’s dismissal and demanded the report of a probe on his reinstatement.
Addressing reporters on Tuesday in Abuja, Bolaji Abdullahi, APC spokesman, said the development was shocking.
“We are all shocked like any other person. It is almost unbelievable that such a thing can happen,” he said.
“However, we are all delighted that President Muhammadu Buhari has taken very decisive punitive action against those that are involved.
“We are also delighted that he has ordered full scale investigation into the circumstances that led to this individual to be reinstated into the public office.”
Abudullahi said the APC believed that those found guilty in Maina’s reinstatement would face appropriate punishment.
We had reported how three top officials of the current administration influenced the recall of Maina.
Earlier on Tuesday, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) sealed off four houses and two companies allegedly belonging to him.
