My Mandate Is Divine, LG Chairman Appreciates Gov Diri

The newly sworn in Local Government Chairman of Sagbama, Mrs Alice Tangi, has thanked the executive governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, for giving her the opportunity to serve.

Mrs Tangi, stated this while speaking to newsmen at a reception in her honor in Yenagoa after she was sworn in by governor Diri.

Diri, had earlier swore in 14 new commissioners, newly-elected chairmen of the eight local government councils, their vice chairmen as well as the chairman of the Bayelsa State Board of Internal Revenue, Daniel Iniekezimene at
the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Yenagoa.

Mrs Tangi, who believes that her mandate is divine call on the people of the LGA not to worry but to only believe in God as well believe in her, by so doing their challenges are surmountable.

While assuring that she will rule the council with the fear of God, the LG boss, said policies she will embark on will be policies that will better the life’s of the people and not anti people policies.

“The needs of the people is what am going to do, by the grace of God, we are going to succeed together, because am going to consult the elders, the men, the women, and we are going to do things that are people oriented and I believe we are going to succeed”, she said.

According to her, part of her policies and programs for the people of Sagbama is to ensure she brings educational policies that will directly affect the life of the people especially the girl child.

She reiterated her promise to collaborate with resource persons that will educate the people so as to enable them have a sound mental health to believe education is the key in life.

In terms of Agriculture, she said, going by her experience in farming, she will partner with Agriculturist to bring the needed agricultural development to the state.

Also speaking was the Lawmaker Representing Sagbama Constituency 2 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon Ebizi Brown, who was elated, said for the first time in the LG they now have a female elected chairman who will develop Sagbama LGA.

According to her, the sterling qualities of the chairman is second to non, hence she strongly believes she will meet the needs and aspirations of the people in the area.

Speaking further, she stated that Sagbama Local Government Area has a greater number of women in politics, while emphasizing that with the over 50% votes given by women in the area she’s optimistic women will encourage the chairman for the overall interest of the area.
