Oro Nation Never Had It So Good- Rep Esin Says As Work Begins In Neglected Roads

Member Representing Oron/Mbo/Okobo/Udung Uko/Urueoffong Oruko Federal Constituency Hon. Martins Esin said his Federal constituency neglected by successive administrations never had it so good like in this present government.

Speaking with newsmen on Friday in Oron Local Government during a “Thank You” visit by Governor Umo Eno to the federal constituency, the lawmaker said the governor’s inclusive leadership style has given his people sense of belonging and has promoted unity accross the state.

He noted that even without agitation, the number and quality of projects flagged-off and executed by the governor in the federal constituency was unprecedented, expressing optimism that the feat will be sustained throughout the lifespan of the administration.

“Let’s face it. Our federal constituency has never fared this well under any Governor since the advent of this democracy.

“Without crying ourselves hoarse without much agitations as usual, Pastor Umo Eno has been very prompt in attending to the needs of Oro people.

“It started with the choice of a complete Oro patriot, Senator Akon Eyakenyi as running mate. Although some persons tried to make light of that development, it has turned out to be a precursor to the Governor’s friendly disposition towards Oron Federal Constituency.”

On the projects, Hon. Esin explained that a certain Ukpong Street and Effiong Essang Street in Oron town were ravaged by gully erosion and so, impassable until the Governor awarded contracts for their construction within his first 100 days in office.

“I don’t know the last time our federal constituency was meaningfully a part of any Governor’s first 100 days plan.

“Beyond that, one of the greatest headaches of Oro people is the bad state of the Uyo – Nsit Attai – Okobo – Oron Road. The Governor has awarded contract for the dualization of the phase two, spanning 13.5 kilometers from Okopedi in Okobo Local Government Area and terminating at Uya Oro in the East West Road.

“Same day, he flagged off the 13.6km Orukim – Unyenghe – Universal Energy Road to provide access to the deep Seaport. The good thing is that all these road projects are ongoing.

“As announced at the meeting, the contract for the Phase One of the Uyo – Nsit Atai – Okobo Road has been terminated and will be re-awarded very soon.

He said the Governor’s voluntary acquisition of a ferry costing billions of naira to ply the Oron – Calabar Waterways and the plan to completely transform the Oron Beach into a tourist haven deserve commendation.
