Abia Govt Calls For Overhaul Of ITF Curriculum To Meet Skilled Manpower Demands

 

The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, has urged the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) to revamp its curriculum, operations, and services to meet the evolving demands for skilled manpower nationwide.

 

Speaking at Government House Umuahia during a meeting with ITF management, Pastor Ajagba enjoined them to continue to pursue more vigorously the objective for which the fund was established.

 

 

He emphasized the need for the Fund to align with Governor Alex Otti’s vision of restoring Aba as the industrial hub of the state.

 

The Chief of staff to the Governor, urged the ITF to innovate and drive development effectively across the state, emphasizing the importance of providing, promoting, and encouraging skills acquisition in industry and commerce with a view to generating a pool of indigenous trained manpower sufficient to meet the needs of the private and public sectors of the economy.

He promised that the Abia State Government would partner the ITF in their programs.

In their separate speeches, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Dr. Cliff Agbaeze, and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Labour Matters, Sir Godson Anucha, while describing the meeting as apt, reiterated the present administration’s commitment to capacity building.

 

Earlier, the Area Manager, Industrial Training Fund, Aba Area Office, Mr Nwigboji Nwafagu said the ITF which is one of the leading skills training organization in Nigeria is focused on setting, regulating training standards, providing human capital development Intervention using a crop of highly competent professionals.

Mr Nwafagu also used the opportunity to commend Governor Otti for the quality work he is doing especially in the areas of infrastructural developments, and solicited government’s partnership to enable them discharge their duties effectively in the state.

 

Highpoint of the meeting was the handover of ITF training brochures to the Chief of Staff.
