The Abia State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), has lauded the Federal and State Governments for providing Motorcycles for the inspection of Education in the Rural Areas.
The Executive Chairman,ASUBEB, Elder Josiah Anonaba, who stated this during the commissioning of a Toyota Hiace Bus and Motorcycles for the monitoring and inspection of schools in the hinterlands by the Governor of the State,Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, said the gesture of the Federal and Abia State Governments is highly commendable,as already, supervisors find it difficult to access schools in the rural areas, stating that the mobility would further assist in facilitating their job, as well as for quality assurance purpose.
Elder Anonaba revealed that the project was a mandate from UBEB and funded through the Intervention Matching Grounds of 2018-2019.
He added that the project came so important because quality assurance is mandatory on all schools.
Giving the responsibility of ASUBEB to be solely for monitoring, supervision, evaluation of teachers, evaluation of teaching and learning, as well as general reporting of school activities, the ASUBEB chairman lauded the State Government for paying its counterpart fund for the actualization of the project.
While promising that the motorcycles would go a long way in ensuring Education activities in the state are adequately monitored, disclosed that the ASUBEB is still poised with the challenge of no digital data base for Private schools in the state, making it difficult to monitor their activities.
Anonaba, however, praised the good working relationship between the Ministry of Education and the ASUBEB,which he narrated was not common before now, pleading it continues, maintaining that the Education board should further. assist the Ministry of Education to supervise Private schools for the purpose of professionalism.
He assured that the motorcycles would be used judiciously, stating that the ASUBEB has put modality in place to guild against the theft of these motorcycles.
