In a recent meeting, the Coordinator and World Health Organization (WHO) representative in Cross River State, Dr. Yewande Olatunji, lauded the State’s proactive measures in advancing its healthcare workforce. The commendation came as a result of the establishment of four colleges of Nursing Sciences and Midwifery, a significant step towards building a robust foundation for the health sector.

During discussions with the State’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk, Dr. Olatunji recommended the collaboration between WHO and the State to conduct a comprehensive needs analysis. The aim is to identify and address critical Human Resource gaps in the newly established colleges. Dr. Olatunji affirmed WHO’s commitment to assisting the State in achieving sustainable workforce development for these educational institutions.
