Widows from Nvosi in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State have poured encomium on the wife of Abia Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, for celebrating the new year with them in a special way.
The widows numbering over 200 received bags of rice and cash donation for condiments from the Abia First Lady.
Addressing the widows in her country home in Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Mrs. Otti said that the gesture is a new beginning not only for widows in Isiala Ngwa South but would also henceforth be replicated in the 17 LGAs of the state.
According to her, “the administration of Governor Alex Otti in Abia state is committed to the welfare and safety of every Abian and will not neglect the plight faced by our widows.
He will continue to be responsive and supportive in ameliorating the challenges of every Abian, while on our own from the office of the wife of the Governor, we will empower women, the youths through skills acquisition and ensure that the right of women and children are not violated” she said.
Meanwhile, one of the beneficiaries and the leader of the women, Mrs. Patience Eleleme who spoke on behalf of the widows thanked the wife of the Governor.
She said,”we are joyful over this kind gesture towards us from the wife of our Governor. “she has given us hope and we will continue to support and pray for the success of this administration”.
