The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) had applauded the Abia state Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu (Ph.D) for the appointment of Lady Ngozi Nwagbara (Ph.D) into Abia State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), stating that it is a round peg in a round hole.
The Chairman, NYCN, Ukwa-East chapter Comrade Emmanuel C. Akparanta expressed delight that with the inclusion of Lady Nwagbara, in the Elder Josiah Okechukwu Anonaba-led board, adding that she would bring her age-long reputation and wealth of experience as an educationist to bear in ASUBEB.
Akparanta who described Lady Nwagbara as an illustrious daughter of Ndoki land in Ukwa-East, with great passion for the upliftment of women and youths alike, maintained that she would live up to her billings.
Interacting with National Ambassador, the elated Lady Nwagbara thanked Gov. Ikpeazu (Ph.D) and his dear wife Nkechi Ikpeazu (Ph.D) for finding her worthy to represent the Abia women in the newly inaugurated ASUBEB.
Nwagbara who disclosed this shortly after their inauguration in Umuahia, said that they would work together as a team to take the board to an enviable height.
In her words: “Education is not only government business, it is also community, family and individual business, let everyone cooperate with the board/Abia state Government to make education in the state better”
Meanwhile, Gov. Ikpeazu has charged the Chairmen and board members of various establishments/ institutions in the State to work diligently to realize this administration’s vision of transforming the education and health sector of the state.
Dr. Ikpeazu gave the charge at the Michael Okpara auditorium, Umuahia, while inaugurating the Chairmen and board members of ASUBEB, Hospital Management Board (HMB), Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) and the Abia State College of Health Science and Management Technology, Aba.
The governor represented by his deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu further charged to discharge their assignment with the fear of the Lord Almighty urging them not to betray the confidence reposed in them.
He enjoined the Chairmen of the various Boards to be proactive and carry their members along to ensure that the objective of the Government setting up the boards is achieved.
Responding on behalf of other Chairmen and members of the various boards, the Chairman of Abia State College of Health Science and Management Technology, Sir Linus Ogbuokiri appreciated the Governor for the opportunity to serve the state various capacities, assuring the state governor that they would not disappoint him but will put in their best to make various boards better than they met it.
Other boards of Establishments inaugurated includes, the Abia State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) with Elder Josiah Okechukwu Anonaba as Chairman, Hospital Management Board (HMB) has Dr. Obinna Allison as Chairman while Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) has Dr. Davidson Nwokoh as Chairman of it’s Board.
Fielding questions from newsmen, the member representing Isiala-Ngwa North State Constituency in the Abia state House of Assembly, Chief Ginger Onwusibe, also expressed hope that the newly inaugurated boards would advance the state with their ingenuity.
The Secretary to State Government (SSG), Mr. Chris Ezem, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, the A.C.B. Agbazuere (Ph.D), top government functionaries among others.
