The Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has inaugurated the seventeen local government coordinators and orientation officers of the Abia Orientation Agency.
Inaugurating the officers, Governor Otti represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu charged them to see themselves as critical agents of real change.
Governor Otti who congratulated them, urged them to recognise the fact that the change mantra begins with them.
The Governor identified the agency as critical organ of government, revealing that the change mantra of government includes change of mindset, world view, processes, outcomes among others.
He called on the officers to the rural areas, to intimate the people of the need to do the right thing in line with the vision and mission of the present government to reduce incidences of antisocial behaviours.
Speaking earlier, the DG state orientation agency Pastor Okechukwu Nwankwo, said the agency established by law two, 2020 of the State House of Assembly to among other things carry out an effective orientation and reorientation on the behavioural pattern of Abia citizens to reduce incidences of anti-social behaviours.
Mr Nwankwo expressed the hope that the inauguration of the LG officers will be an added impetus to the actualisation of the Agency’s mandate especially at the grassroots, adding that agency will on the 19th of this month host a major campaign against cultism and drug addiction at the Michael Okpara Auditorium.
