Gov Otti Inspects Ongoing Work On Enugu-Port Harcourt Express Road, Expresses Confidence On Timely Completion

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has expressed confidence that the Enugu-Port Harcourt Express Road will be accessible for motorists before the yuletide season.

 

Governor Otti stated this after a thorough inspection of the Obehe Axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Express road, which is a crucial link between Abia and Rivers State.

 

The road which has been impassable for years has caused untold hardship for commuters and motorists alike.

 

During the inspection, Governor Otti conveyed the assurance of the Minister for Works, Engr David Umahi, that there is a presidential directive to make the Enugu-Port Harcourt Express road accessible to motorists before the yuletide season.

 

He said; “The reason I am here today is to see the progress of work that has been done by the CCECC contractors.

“Last week, I was with the Honourable Minister for Works, and he assured me that they have the instruction of the President to ensure that this road is available to use for motorists on or before the yuletide season and I’ve come to see for myself.

 

“The Abia State government is collaborating with the Federal government to ensure that this road which has been underutilized for a very long time is got ready as quickly as possible”.

 

 

The Governor expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) contractors as well as their active commitment to ensuring the realization of the road in record time

“I can see the progress of work, I can see the seriousness of the contractors. Incidentally, the contractors, are also working for us in Abia State”, Governor Otti remarked.

 

 

He emphasized the active involvement of an engineer from Abia State who provides government with daily reports on the road project and added that he decided to personally inspect the site to verify the progress and ensure its timely completion.

 

The Governor who also addressed enthusiastic Aba residents and those doing business along Asa Nnentu Spare Parts Market, Alaoji Aba, also assured them that the road will be ready for use this yuletide.
