Community Service: Constituents Honours Rep Nkwonta With Ohamadike Chieftaincy Title

The Chairman, House Committee on Climate Change, Federal House of Representatives, National Assembly Abuja, Rep Chris Nkwonta has been honoured with Ohamadike chieftaincy title by the Council of Chiefs, Village Heads and Elders of Ozaa Clan in Ukwa West Local Government Area.

Speaking during the conferment, the Village Heads of all the 14 villages in Ozaa Clan, led by their Chairman, Ichie A.O Nwoha said that the Awards conferred on the
member representing Ukwa East and Ukwa-West Federal Constituency was well-deserved, adding that the Federal Lawmaker has impacted his constituents positively.

In his words: “Chief Nkwonta has distinguished himself from other politicians by his zeal to do good for communities, especially the people of Ozaa in Ukwa-West LGA”.


Ichie Nwoha expressed gratitude to Hon. Nkwonta for his support and impactful leadership, describing the legislator as a worthy friend who enjoys a cordial relationship with the people of Ozaa.

Earlier in his address, the President of Oganihu Ozaa Action Movement, Chief Emeka Nwoha noted that the Movement is a socio-political/cultural organization with the aims and objectives of promoting good governance, advocate for political positions among others.

He described Hon Nkwonta as a humanitarian Par Excellence, adding that he has transformed lives in Ukwa land and the society in general.

He maintained that the chieftaincy title conferred on him was on merit, urging him to continue on the same path which has endeared him to the people.

In his remark, Chief Nkwonta congratulated other Awardees on the event and appreciated the people of Ozaa for the honour done to them.

Hon Nkwonta thanked the Oganihu Ozaa Action Movement and the people of Ozaa for their support during the last Presidential and National Assembly election, disclosing that it contributed immensely to his landslide victory.

He promised to uphold the confidence reposed on him during the last election by attracting meaningful and people-oriented projects to all nooks and crannies of Ukwa Federal Constituency.

Speaking on the issue of the petition he presented on the floor of the Lower Chambers of the National Assembly, the Lawmaker explained that the petition was in reaction to the refusal of Nigeria Gas Company, Shell Petroleum Development Company and Other Oil and Gas Companies to establish Host Communities Development Trust Fund for Host Communities in Ukwa East LGA, gross neglect of Host Communities and abandonment of (5) Oil Wells in the affected Communities (thereby subjecting the Oil Wells to capped wells) in the Local Government Area.

He called on them to jettison the propaganda being peddled by those who are yet to come out of their defeat in the last election and encouraged them to embrace the Petroleum Industry Act which provides for the establishment of Host Communities Development Trust Fund in the affected communities.

Other Awardees on the occasion include; the Founder and Proprietor of Chivyk Model Schools, Dr Chibuike Kanu,Prince Chikwele Obinya, Mr Udobi Denwoha,Chief Mrs Martha Arthur, a former Deputy Chairman of Ukwa West Local Government Area, Engr. Chikodi Ogbonna among others who were awarded as Grand Patrons, Patrons and Matrons of Oganihu Ozaa Action Movement.
