Woman Dies in Labor Due to Absence of Medical Personnel in Cross River State

The people of Sankwala in Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State have been angry and mourning the death of a woman from their area who died while in labor, losing her life and that of her child as a result of the absence of medical attendants in the community general hospital.

 

According to the people of the area who turned out in their numbers at the hospital when the incident happened, the State Government have not been paying attention to them as the general hospital in their community does not have medical personnel to attend to anybody for quite some time.

The death of the woman has prompted the State Government to direct the deployment of a medical practitioner as well as other medical attendants to the hospital, as well as extend condolences to the family of the woman and the entire community.

 

The State Ministry of Health in a press release signed by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk on behalf of the State Government regretted the sad incident and assured the people of the State that the Governor’s promise of the people’s first through health care sector still remain his priority.

The Commissioner also reached out to the Paramount Ruler of the Community, His Royal Majesty Amos Item, extending the condolence of the Governor Senator Bassey Otu and also promised support services at the general hospital to ensure such ugly incident do not repeat.
