Youth in Agriculture Foundation in Niger Delta, Abia State Chapter recently paid a courtesy visit to the State Project Coordinator, Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprise in the Niger Delta (LIFE-ND).
Chairman of the association, Mr. Uko Ogbonnaya, said that the youths in Abia attached so much importance to agribusiness development in the state, that is the reason we have come to familiarise with you and to solicit for our members to be selected as incubators in the project.
According to Uko, “part of our visit also is to know more about the project so that we can sensitise our members on the condition of accessing the LIFE-ND grant or trainings that the farmers can acquire to improve their farming techniques”.
However, Uko, enumerated some of the association’s challenge to be lack of office space and equipment for further trainings of their members but promised that if they are carried along, they would abide by the rules of the project to ensure its success.
Receiving members of the association at his LIFE-ND office in Umuahia the state capital, the State Project Coordinator, Dr. Uchenna Onyeizu, stated that the level of awareness and knowledge of members of the association is an advantage in partnering with them to ensure our young persons are encouraged to become agric-entrepreneurs.
According to him, the project is strictly working according to IFAD rules in all its engagements including its partners.
Meanwhile, Onyeizu, thanked the youths for coming and explains that the Abia Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, played a vital role to the successes recorded so far by the project.
However, He assured the youths that his office is always open to partner with them to ensure that Agribusinesses take the center stage of the country’s economy and rural development!
