Calabar Fire Service Commander Cautions Traders to Always Apply Fire Outbreak Preventive Measures

The Commanding Officer Federal Fire Service of the Calabar Command, Olumayowa Olomola has cautioned traders to always apply fire preventive measures by ensuring they put off all electrical appliances when not in use.

 

Olomola issued the caution following the recent fire outbreak that occurred in the popular Watt market Calabar, which consumed six shop buildings before the prompt intervention of the fire service preventing it from extending to other buildings.

 

According to the information gathered, the fire outbreak started in the early hours of Thursday around 2. a.m. when no one was yet in the market damaging some shops with baby items, footwear wears and sportswear.

The Commander disclosed that the cause of the fire outbreak was a result of an electrical surge in one of the shopping malls in the market, though one cannot ascertain the exact amount of money lost due to the fire outbreak but it certainly runs in millions with no loss of lives.
