WIFE OF ABIA GOVERNOR, MRS. NKECHI IKPEAZU, Ph.D 

Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu has called on the sickle cell focal persons in the Local Government Areas of the state to go into the hinterland and identify those affected by sickle cell anemia and give them drugs.

The Governor’s wife who was represented by Her Special Adviser on Primary Health, Mrs. Uloma Anosike, made the call at the sickle cell care centre, Umuahia as she handed over cartons of drugs, ledgers for collation of data and Vicar Hope Foundation’s signature materials to focal persons for easy identification as they distribute the drugs.

According to her, “I encourage you all to effectively distribute the drugs and see it as service to humanity, the drugs given to you are not for keep but for distribution to survivors and monitor them “. She said.

However, one of the focal person, Mrs. Victoria Nnaemeka, who spoke with National Ambassador, said that she appreciated the Governors wife for her efforts to end the cycle of sickle cell disease but on our own as focal persons, we will do our best in advocacy, distribution of the drugs and reach out to the survivors with every available information that would improve their care and well being.
