Abia DGov Charges Ministers of God to Remain Steadfast in Their Responsibilities.

Abia State Deputy Governor, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu has charged Ministers of God to live up to their responsibilities of winning souls and changing the moral values of society.

Engr Emetu who gave the charge during the inauguration of Ohafia Synod of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, General Assembly held at the Isiama Parish of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Elu Ohafia pointed out that a lot still need to be done in rechanneling the evil thoughts of youths unto righteous living to help address the increase in criminality prevalent in the State and Nation.

The Deputy Governor reaffirmed Government’s resolve to sustain their partnership with the Church, while reassured that the Dr Alex Otti’s administration is irrevocably committed to living up to their responsibilities of reducing crimes as well as making the environment better for Abians by creating job opportunities and other social amenities for the citizenry devoid of discrimination of area and States of origin.

He however decried the high rates of criminality and other forms of deviant behaviours among youths despite the wonderful work of the Church in propagating the gospel and congratulated members of the newly inaugurated Ohafia Synod on their elevation, while charging them to discharge their duties diligently and urged the Church to sustain their prayers for the State’s leadership to enable them deliver on their mandate of taking Abia to greater heights.

In his sermon titled, ” The Purpose Of Our Existence As A Church,” the Prelate of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria and Moderator of General Assembly, His Eminence, Dr Ekpeyong Akpanika said the primary mission of the Church is to preach the gospel of good news to the poor, heal the broken hearted and downtrodden in society as well as proclaiming liberty to the captives.

The Presbyterian Prelate enjoined the newly inaugurated members of synod of Ohafia to take up the challenge of embarking on aggressive step towards achieving their mission statement by expanding and opening up new frontiers in their quest to bring succour to the physically and spiritually blind in society.
