70-Year-Old LP Chieftain, Beheaded

The Abia State Police has confirmed the tragic death of Mr. Zachary Maduka, who served as the Campaign Director for the Labour Party during the 2023 elections in Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of the state. Maduka, a 70-year-old resident of Ezieke Akpukpa village, met a gruesome end when unidentified individuals beheaded him on Wednesday night.

According to reports, approximately 10 assailants armed with pump action guns, cutlasses, and various weapons confronted him at a drinking joint in Amelechi Akpukpa community. Tragically, they shot him, dragged him along the ground before ultimately beheading him. The attackers made off with his severed head.

The Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, issued a statement on Thursday confirming the incident. She emphasized that ongoing investigations are being conducted to unravel those behind the dastardly act.

The statement read, “Mr. Nmaduka was violently attacked, shot, and beheaded by unidentified assailants while he was at a drinking joint in Amelechi Akpukpa community

“Upon receiving this distressing information, a joint team comprising police and army personnel were swiftly dispatched to the scene.

“Tragically, they recovered Mr. Maduka’s lifeless body. Photographic evidence was captured at the scene, and the deceased’s remains were promptly evacuated and deposited at Marist Mortuary Uturu”.
