Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, officially inaugurated 38 commissioners and special advisers. During the event at the Lagos State Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, he emphasized the importance of these cabinet members ensuring the successful implementation of the THEMES’ developmental agenda.
Governor Sanwo-Olu urged the newly sworn-in officials to exemplify excellence in the execution of their duties, expressing optimism about the prospects of a more prosperous Lagos. He spoke following the administration of the oath and swearing-in ceremony.
SANWO-OLU SWEARS IN 38 COMMISSIONERS, SPECIAL ADVISERS
The Lagos State House of Assembly had previously confirmed the governor’s nominees for these positions. The ceremony saw prominent figures in attendance, including Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa; Chief Judge of Lagos State, Kazeem Alogba; Secretary to State Government, Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin; and Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
The event attracted a wide array of attendees, including family members, friends, traditional rulers, government officials, members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), led by the Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains, former Senators, local government chairmen, ex-commissioners, religious leaders, and bodies of permanent secretaries, among others. Minister for Solid Minerals and former Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dele Alake, was also present.
Governor Sanwo-Olu stressed the historic significance of the occasion, highlighting the careful selection of the state Executive Council members as emblematic of Lagos’s values. He commended the Assembly for its support and emphasized the importance of meeting set targets, with excellence and the best interests of the people at heart. The governor’s message underscored the need for the new cabinet to consider their appointments as both a unique privilege and a call to dedicated service, ultimately benefiting the residents of Lagos.
