Reclaim Our School Initiative: Ministries of Science, Technology, Sport Education Join Forces

The Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Sport and Ministry of education say they will continue to collaborate each other to achieve the vision of the present administration ably led by Dr Alex Otti.

This was even as members of the inaugurated taskforce team in the Ministry of Education were asked to report schools in the state without standard ICT lab,Science laboratory and school field.

The commissioner for Science and technology, Honourable Chima Oriaku, disclosed this during the three days training organized by Ministry of Education to train members of the Taskforce Team for Reclaim Our School Initiative.

Oriaku said his Ministry will collaborate with the Ministry of Education in training and re-training of ICT teachers in order to fit into the vision of the present administration to take the public school from analog to digital stage.

According to him this will enable Abia children compete favorably with their counterpart in the country in the area of ICT , science and technology.

Hon Oriaku said that the importance of having a standard ICT lab in the schools,cannot be over emphasised as ICT helps to enhance teaching and learning and makes teaching easy as well as help students to assimilate what is taught very fast and easily.

He further said that every standard ICT must be conducive and we’ll aired and should have central processing unit(CPU), monitor, uninterrupted power supply (CPS), modem and printer ,as well as good networking.

Speaking, the Commissioner for Sports Sir Nwaobilo Ananaba, said that every school must have a school field as well as a qualified Physical Education teacher who will teach students different games such as basketball, volleyball, table tennis among others.

According to him, any school that doesn’t have field where the students can carry out their sport day activities should arrange with school that have field inorder to ensure that students carry out their sport day activities or have their license withdrawn

He further said that the state government will introduce sports college where students who wish to be professionals in sports will be trained by the European sports Scot.

This he said was aimed in improving spotting activities in the state.

Earlier ,the commissioner for Education Prof Uche Eme Uche ,said the Ministry will continue to engage Professionals in the Education Sector in training and retraining Abia Teachers.

Professor Uche enjoined them to strive to upgrade in their Profession especially in the area of ICT.
