ABHA Advances Industrial Cluster Bill to 2nd Reading, Addresses Traditional Ruler Imposition Petition

Abia State House of Assembly has passed for second reading H.A.B: 2 ,”The Abia State Industrial Cluster Bill, 2023 sponsored by the member representing Bende South State Constituency, Chief Emmanuel Ndubuisi.

The bill which seeks to provide a law to establish industrial clusters in the three Senatorial Districts of the state and for other matters connected therewith scaled through the second reading following debate by members on its merit or demerit.

Following members submission, the Speaker, Chief Emmanuel Emeruwa later committed the bill to the House Committee on Commerce and Industry when constituted for further legislative actions.

In his lead debate earlier, the sponsor of the bill and member representing Bende South, Chief Emmanuel Ndubuisi said when passed into law and accented to, the bill will assist in directing the economy of the state towards industrialization and technological development, encourage local and direct foreign investments through the creation of enabling environment and create employment opportunities among others and urged his colleagues to lend their support towards its passage.

The House also entertained a petition brought before it entitled ” Petition against the imposition of a new traditional ruler in Ugwuele autonomous community in Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area as written by one Chief Joseph Okwudiri Dimgba, praying the House to intervene and ensure that the constitutional guidelines and procedures for the selection of an Eze in the community be followed in producing their traditional ruler as against the alleged imposition by a few led by their outgoing traditional prime minister, Chief Ndubuisi Ukeje.

The House referred the petition to its Committee on Chieftaincy Affairs when constituted to investigate and report back.
