FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP: Colombia beat South Korea

Two first half goals by Catalina Usme and Linda Caicedo ensured that Colombia defeated South Korea 2-0 in the last first round of matches played in Sydney.

Catalina Usme put the South Americans ahead from the penalty spot, before teenage sensation Linda Caicedo doubled the lead after an error from Korean keeper Yoon Young-geul.

However, South Korean striker, Casey Phair made history when she became the youngest-ever player at a Women’s World Cup.  She is 16 years and 26 days, and came in as a 77th-minute substitute.
