The people of Ukwa; comprising of Ukwa-East and Ukwa-West Local Government Areas (LGAs), have unanimously adopted Sir Chris Nkwonta as the Sole Candidate to represent Ukwa Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
The Ukwa Youth Leader, Mr. Kingsley Nnah Okadigbo who moved the motion in Akwete Ndoki, Ukwa-East LGA Abia state recently, noted that Chief Nkwonta’s humanitarian services, Human Capital Development prowess and community services among others in Ukwa land remained unparalleled.
Mr. Nnah who stated that Ukwa people have suffered from poor and ineffective representation for 16 years, expressed hope that Chief Nkwonta; without holding any public office, has done alot for Ukwa, would also change the narrative.
The motion which was seconded by Comrade Ugwumba Adiele, got ratified by the former Sole Administrator, Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC), Rt. Hon. Emeka Stanley.
Speaking further, Rt. Hon. Stanley noted that Chief Nkwonta is the most qualified for Ukwa Federal House of Representatives seat compared with candidates from other parties, in terms of experience, antecedent, academics among others.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Barr. Tony Nwamuo has commended Nkwonta for his philanthropic strides in Ukwa land, Abia state and Nigeria at large, adding that he is the best candidate for Ukwa Federal House of Representatives job.
“Vote for Chris Nkwonta for Ukwa Federal for effective representation”, he stated.
Nwamuo further disclosed that the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, has performed creditably in providing critical infrastructures for Abians, hence, the need to vote him (Dr. Ikpeazu) for Abia South Senatorial District at National Assembly.
The legal practitioner who maintained that Gov. Ikpeazu is the most qualified for Abia South Senatorial seat, urged Abians to also vote for Abia PDP Guber candidate, Prof. Uchenna E. Ikonne for Abia Governor; Hon. Lewis Obianyi for Ukwa-East State Constituency among others come 2023 general elections.
In their separate remarks, the Deputy Majority leader, Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Paul Taribo, the PDP Chairman, Ukwa-East LGA, Sir Okechi Nwohu, the PDP flagbearer, Ukwa-East State Constituency, Hon. Lewis Obianyi, former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Lady Chinedum Brown, leader of Asa delegate, Mr. Nwoke, noted that Chief Nkwonta’s contributions to the development of Ukwa land, especially his recent immense financial input towards the restoration of electricity to Ukwa-East after eight years of perennial darkness, remained an edge over other candidates.
They maintained that a vote for Hon. Chris Nkwonta is a vote for restoration and repositioning of Ukwa land for unprecedented development.
In his response, the PDP flagbearer, Ukwa Federal Constituency, Chief Chris Nkwonta, thanked Ukwa people, stating that development has come to stay in Ukwa land.
Nkwonta further urged Ukwa people to expect functional hospitals in Ukwa land, more scholarships, jobs for teeming unemployed and critical infrastructures for the people, promising not to let the people down when elected come 2023 general polls.
Highlights of the event were free distribution of hundreds of bags of rice, vegetable oil, wrappers (veritable wax), and cash to Ukwa people among others by Chief Nkwonta.
