ENUGU–Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Enugu State Command, has urged residents of Enugu State to ignore a viral video alleging that a helicopter was spotted dropping hundreds of people at Coal Camp area in Enugu North LGA.
The command describes as mischievous and fake the trending video.
In a statement made available to journalists by the Public Relations Officer, NSCDC, Enugu State Command, Denny Manuel Iwuchukwu, advised the people to ignore the alarming video as it was a calculated attempt to create panic and tension among members of the public.
He said “the question is how many people saw the purported helicopter which the video claimed was hovering over Enugu since morning and how many are they?as helicopter hovering in the space cannot be seen by only one or two persons.
“Again the video also claimed that the number of people so dropped were up to 100 and a veritable fact is that an helicopter can only carry about 5 or 6 persons at a time. So how many helicopters do they see dropping up to this number the video claimed. There more questions than answers here.
Iwuchukwu said the Commandant has directed a full detailed investigation into the matter with a view to ascertaining the source of the video and also if there is any iota of truth in the whole story.
“Furthermore,the Commandant has charged members of the public to go about their normal businesses but to remain vigilant and security conscious and report the presence of any strenge face, faces or movements in their locality to the security agencies promising prompt response.
“Commandant Obiorah further assured Enugu people of the readiness and capability of security agencies in the State to protect them.
‘We are handling the matter professionally and we are duty bound to protect you all, “the statement added.
