The media has been solicited to publicise the activities of the agencies;the Abia State Water board in collaboration with USAID, E-WASH and World Bank.
Speaking during the media round table quarterly meeting of the Agency at Glajosh Hotels , Ahiaeke Ibeku Umuahia, the Commissioner for Public Utilities and Water Resources, Sir Emma Nwabuko said that, the partnership will go a long way in enhancing activities of the agency ,as well as draw the attention of the general public on the ongoings of the agencies, in the state.
Sir Nwabuko who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry,Mr Dike Ezenwa, commended USAID, E-WASH and World Bank for coming to assist Abia Water Board in their aim to restore the lost glory of Abia State regional water schemes and assured them of government’s support.
In his speech, the GM/CEO Abia Water Board and Sewage Corporation, Mr.Leo Ogbonna who highlighted activities of the agency, noted that Abia State regional water scheme at Ugba-Na-Nkata is nearly in completion to give Umuahia and it’s environs water on commercial rate, adding that, the USAID through E-WASH and World Bank will soon commence rehabilitation work at CKC and Ariaria regional water schemes.
In their paper presentations, the state team, USAID E-WASH , Dr Ziyok Ishaku and the Advocacy and Capacity Building Specialist, Mr Abuma Ibrahim, who x-rayed the importance of media in information dissemination pledged to work with them in realizing the project.
Others present include,the Coordinator Umuahia Zone E-WASH, Mr Onyebuchi Isaac, Directors of Ministry of public Utilities and water resources and experts on water sector.
