Ikpeazu inspects Aba road, directs extension to Ubakala junction.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Tuesday, directed the Contractor handling construction of the Aforibeji end of the Aba road/Old Umuahia -road to extend same to Ubakala junction.

Ikpeazu who gave the directive while inspecting  the completed section of the road project as part of the State wide project inspection, assured that the Ubakala end of the road will be commissioned before the end of the year.
The governor who recalled that the road had hitherto remained impassable years ago hence the need to adopt cement pavement technology in fixing it.
He said his adminstration embarked on the road project to give the people a sense of belonging as well as uplift the asthetics of the state capital, assuring that the road will stand the test of time.
Ikpeazu while commending the Contractor for a job well done,promised that two more road projects will be embarked upon by his adminstration in Umuahia South and thanked the people for their cooperation.
Earlier, the Secretary to the State Government Barr. Chris Ezem and the T.C Chairman, Umuahia South, Dr. Max Ndukwe Adindu thanked the governor for embarking on the road project.
They commended the Governor for insisting on the use of cement pavement technology in constructing the road.
Reacting in an interview with National Ambassador reporter, former Permanent Secretary,Ministry of works and Special adviser to the governor on Projects, Elder Richard Nwala, expressed happiness that the road project was completed within record time using rigid pavement technology to avoid constant collapse.
Some residents including Mr Chima Okezie, Ralpheal Chiadikaobi and Mrs Rose Umeh expressed gratitude to the Governor for coming to their rescue and pledged support to his adminstration.
