Cardiologist Charges Rivers Residents On Blood Pressure

A cardiologist Nyeche Ovundah had advised residents to monitor their blood pressure on a regular basis. In an interview with our reporter, Dr. Ovundah said hypertension which is a silent killer sometimes come with no symptoms and it is basically persistent allegation of blood pressure.

Dr. Ovundah further explained that regardless whether there is symptoms or not, hypertension has complications that can be life changing. He said unfortunately for many, they may not know they have hypertension until they are down with some of the complications. Stating that, that is the reason it is important for people to regularly check their blood pressure, so that if they have hypertension, they can start medication immediately.

Dr. Ovundah of the Rivers State Teaching Hospital explained that hypertension is a condition in which the blood vessels have persistently raised pressure. He however advised residents to modulate their life style and engage in regular physical exercise to fight hypertension. And those that have hypertension should deem it important to see their doctors regularly, obey medical advice, cut down on level of salt intake, juice intake, alcohol intake and smoking.
Adding that people who have a family history of hypertension, it is important that they have good consultation and cut down on their salt intake.
